FSDS v3.5 - rick2519 - 11-16-2007

You've purchased Flight Sim Design Studio v3.5 by Abacus and it won't compile airplanes or scenery objects to FSX or FS9 without errors.

Here is what you need to make sure is in place:
First, you need to download and install MSXML v4 with SP1 update, the DirectX 9.0c (August 2007) or later, and .Net v2.0 with SP1 update.

These are all available through www.microsoft.com. Simply insert into their search window, the item above and it will take you to the correct places.

Next, You must install the FS2004 SDK available from the above website, and,or the FSX SDK located on disk 1 of the Deluxe version of FSX. You then need to install the SP1 update for the SDK available from www.fsinsider.com.

Now this is VERY important. DO NOT MOVE any files in either SDK from their original installation locations.

When you open the 'preferences' section of FSDS, you will see that it indicates its compiling files for FS9 or FSX. Click the 'continue' button and a new screen opens. Make sure the box next to 'XtoMDL' is checked and then select the path to the FSX SDK where each of the files is located. Now you are set to compile MDL's and BGL's for FSX.

To compile for FS9 you need to check the box next to 'MakeMDL' and then select the path's to the files required located in the FS9 SDK. You are now ready to compile for FS9 or FSX depending on which box you check before compiling. The program will remember both settings for both sims so you don't have to identify the path's next time.

Remember that you need to open the preferences option and then the continue button to access this page and select which sim you are compiling for.

It took a couple weeks for me to get this figured out because I had moved one of the files and therefore the program failed each time I compiled. Thanks to Abacus for their diligence. We got it fixed.

Have fun and start making TCA bits for all of us.
