RE: Groundspeed Records - TCA2050 - 01-11-2015

Just not broken Christian's last record here but still not bad.
Enroute from ZSPD to CYVR on TL0111-15 cruising in the B77F, 646 knots groundspeed with a good tailwind.... will make the Pacific crossing a bit shorter ;-)

OK, guys.
It is Christmas time and it brings a really special present in kind of a new record: 682 knots over Japan just en-route from Nagasaki to Seattle in the MD11 from Tradewind Alaska.

RE: Groundspeed Records - CBreuer - 01-12-2020

It has been a long time since I was able to capture a new groundspeed record, but during the recent flight from Taipei to Salt Lake City I got a groundspeed of barely over 700 knots with a tailwind of over 185 knots. Unfortunately I wasn't expecting this and therefore was unable to capture a screenshot of it. But right thereafter we still had 696 knots groundspeed. Although we had climbed to FL330 instead of the achieved over 700 knots at FL310.
The region around Japan is always good for these kind of records. This also decreases the flight time significantly. The previous flight from Madrid to Taipei had almost the same flightplan distance as the flight from Taipei to SLC, but cut off nearly 2 hours.
