Cargo dispatch T1111-14 YPAD-NSTU - TCA2050 - 11-02-2014
Flew the Cargo Dispatch flight TL1111-14 from Adelaide, Australia to Pago Pago, American Samoa today.
Preflight and loading at the ramp at Adelaide
Taxiing out to RW23 to follow the SEDAN9 departure to SEDAN ins.
Feeding in the power at RW23 to start our take off roll
And away we are
Routing: SEDAN Y27 UVUPU T77 NYN Y287 RACHL Y340 AMB Y195 BN B578 TEBUR B602 ATPEN B599 NN G224 SETTS
.... A good 5 hours later we're in the descent to Pago Pago.
Following weather conditions we're setting up for the ILS RW05 approach
Quite some thick clouds around that cast shadow
With the runway in sight I went on manual to battle the winds averaging 110/25G35...
Quite a workout, the flight dynamics in X-Plane give for quite a pleasant experience ... you much more feel the aircraft floating in the air than is the case in FSX, a lovely experience I must say.
Finally we managed to get the sinkrate back in shape and had plenty room to spare on the rather long runway.
Just a rainy day at Pago Pago... again the thickness of clouds casting dark shadows
