Hi guys,
you may already have noticed or read somewhere that the AVSIM servers have been hacked to smithereens. The popularity of Tom Allensworth and his invaluable service to the flight sim community can be seen by the fact the the news even hit the headlines at BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8049780.stm
The servers may be down for a long time or even forever according to Tom. Unfortunately they had a policy of cross backing up their two servers. No external backup.
For the life of me I cannot see any wisdom in such random acts of destruction. It escapes me what people gain from these attacks.
Hope Tom manages to get his AVSIM servers back up any time soon. I'd miss them immensely and I'm sure lots of you would too.
Greetings
Hans (EDDM)
