After a quick aircraft change it was time to depart for the second lag to KBE Bell Island Hot Spring.
I went for the Quest Kodiak as everyone of us did.
Here you can see Stefaan and me taxiing to RWY 12 in preparation for departure.
Almost ready to go - only waiting for Pär to show up...
After departure we headed for Ketchikan and I made a nice overhead of the nearby harbor and the airport as well.
Heading for the turn to the right. Behind the window frame you can barely see the callsign from Pär.
That is the point to turn around...
...and turning.
During the remainder of the flight I tried to stay between these cloud layers, which allowed to see the ground and was also high enough to barely clear the terrain...
Crossing a glacier near Steward.
On approach to Steward with Stefaan ahead of me a bit to the left and Pär further ahead just going overhead. I made a successful approach to 4Z7, which is a water runway and thereafter I tried to make a touch and go to Stewards RWY 36, but may have encountered wake turbulence from Stefaan, so it was only a low approach...
We had to continue on heading and climb out and use the whole valley to turn around to get back en-route.
Then I was closing in to the final destination and Pär was already waiting for me. Stefaan managed to land before me, but had some minor problems later on
But he was able to get his wings level again and parked on the shore and Pär was in front of me.
OK, that was it for that Saturday. But according to Pär we will stay in this region for awhile and so guys, come on and join us in SE Alaska.
